An article from the US today demonstrating how donation rates have risen and the impact they have had with 52 more lives saved than the previous year. We need to keep the ball rolling on this kind of momentum, so keep spreading the word here north of the border!

Canadian Blood Services has received a new mandate from the Federal and Provincial governments to look at designing a new system for Organ and Tissue donation and transplantation and we think it is critical that the public has a say in the design of the new system and therefore we are holding a series of Public Dialogues across the country for feedback and input from the general public.

Participate in a public dialogue on organ tissue donation and transplantation.

Canadian Blood Services will be hosting a series of public dialogues, during which participants will have the opportunity to learn about the challenges of organ and tissue donation and transplantation (OTDT) in Canada, and contribute their thoughts and ideas on how the system might be improved.

These public dialogues are open to anyone who has interest in OTDT and are part of a larger national initiative to educate, engage, and mobilize individual Canadians...

The OETSG was approached by the Queen's University Law department in 2008 to see if we would be interested in providing a topic for a project for some students as a part of their course. We thought this would be a great opportunity to have some research done into the subject of "Organ Transplantation Privacy Rights", with a focus on Canada and our laws...

How long does it take to save a life?

According to Canadian Blood services all it takes is about an hour and that hour is well spent because it can save three or four lives. According to Canadian Blood Services web site www.blood.ca every minute of every day someone in Canada needs blood. So how much blood does it take to save a life?
